COURSE INFORMATION

How did the Curacorn® technique come about?

Catherine Hughes, a registered podiatrist for over 20 years was working with a premier league football club. Several players were suffering with painful pressure lesions from wearing tight football boots. Catherine soon realised the traditional methods were not fit for purpose and started to research alternative methods. After years of research and trials, Catherine found that she could cushion the foot from the inside to alleviate pain. Thus, Curacorn® was born.

What is covered in the Curacorn® theory?

Students will be required to completed theory online prior to your practical session. During the theory you will learn about the most common foot problems and how Curacorn® can help relieve pain. You will understand hyaluronic acid dermal fillers including pharmacology, uses and contra-indications for your patients.

What type of patients are suitable for Curacorn® treatment?

Curacorn® works best in areas where there is some laxity of skin around the lesion such as an interdigital corn, dorsal corn/pressure point or under the PMA. We find that most patients who engage in regular exercise that exacerbates pressure pathologies can benefit from it. We get great results in those who participate in:

  • Football
  • Golf
  • Rugby
  • Athletics
  • Cricket
  • Any sport involving excessive weight bearing
  • Those with biomechanical issues leading to pressure lesions
